Executive summary

  • A record quarter: Adding TSMC's reported monthly sales for July, August and September gives about NT$1.494 trillion, a record quarterly total. Reuters reported the result was roughly 50% above the year-earlier quarter; Focus Taiwan reported 17.6% growth from the second quarter.[1][2][3]
  • Above the forecast: The total exceeded the upper end of the US$44.6 billion to US$45.8 billion revenue range TSMC gave in July. The company stated that forecast using an assumed exchange rate of NT$32 per U.S. dollar, so comparisons with the reported Taiwan-dollar total depend on the conversion used.[4][3][2]
  • Earnings are next: The monthly revenue figures are unaudited and do not disclose profit, margins or product-level demand. TSMC's quarterly results conference is scheduled for Oct. 15.[1][5][2]

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. recorded about NT$1.494 trillion in revenue for July through September, according to a sum of the monthly figures the company reported. Reuters and Focus Taiwan both described the quarter as a record. Revenue was about 50% higher than a year earlier, Reuters reported, and 17.6% above the second quarter, Focus Taiwan reported.[1][2][3]

September brought in NT$511.857 billion, down 0.6% from August but 54.6% above September 2025. That made September TSMC's highest-sales September on record, even as the monthly total eased slightly from August's all-time high. The company's monthly revenue table labels its 2026 figures unaudited.[6][1][3]

In July, TSMC forecast third-quarter revenue of US$44.6 billion to US$45.8 billion, using an assumed exchange rate of NT$32 to the dollar. The monthly sales sum was above the high end when converted on that basis. Reuters calculated a U.S.-dollar equivalent of about US$46.71 billion using the exchange rate on Oct. 8 and said the total also exceeded a NT$1.46 trillion analyst estimate from LSEG's survey of 19 analysts.[4][2][3]

Reuters attributed the growth to demand for artificial-intelligence applications, while Focus Taiwan cited analysts who pointed to AI chips and smartphone-related orders. TSMC's brief monthly revenue releases do not show how much sales came from any particular end market, so the figures alone cannot measure AI's share of the quarter.[2][3][6]

The revenue update gives investors a view of sales growth but not the cost, profit or margin details needed to assess how that growth translated into earnings. TSMC has not issued a new forecast with the monthly revenue report. Its financial calendar lists the third-quarter earnings conference and call for Oct. 15, when the company is scheduled to provide fuller results and an updated outlook.[5][2][1]
