French artificial-intelligence company Mistral raised €3 billion in a Series D round at a post-money valuation above €21 billion, marking a major expansion of Europe's best-funded independent AI contender. Mistral disclosed the transaction Tuesday, and Reuters and Le Monde independently reported the financing and valuation.[1][2][3]

Samsung Electronics led the round. The Scaleup Europe Fund, managed by EQT, and existing investor PSG Equity served as co-leads, while Advent, BlackRock-managed funds and accounts and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg joined as new investors. Existing backers including ASML, Nvidia, Salesforce Ventures and several venture firms also participated.[1][2]

The company described the deal as the largest equity fundraising round ever completed by a European technology company. Reuters and Le Monde reported the same company characterization; it is a corporate claim rather than an independently audited league table of every financing structure.[1][2][3]

Mistral said it will use the capital to increase training compute, expand frontier-model research and infrastructure, and accelerate commercial growth and international expansion. The company said it now operates in 20 countries and supports more than 125 global enterprises, including Airbus, ASML and HSBC.[1]

The round strengthens Mistral's position as a European alternative to U.S. and Chinese AI providers, but the new valuation reflects investor expectations rather than realized public-market value. Executing the company's full-stack strategy will require sustained spending on chips, data centers, research and enterprise sales.[1][2][3]
